BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Buckeyes wasted little time in jumping out to a lead and then road its inside-outside combo of Kelsey Mitchell and Stephanie Mavunga to a 92-82 wire-to-wire victory at Indiana on Saturday afternoon.
The win was the 10th straight for the Buckeyes over the Hoosiers and improves OSU to 12-4 overall and 2-0 in the Big Ten.
Mitchell scored a season-high tying 31 points to go along with a season-high six rebounds and five assists. Mavunga was a beast inside and Indiana had no answer. She notched her seventh double-double this season with 14 points and a career-high 17 rebounds.
Amanda Cahill led the Hoosiers with 28 points and nine rebounds.
The Buckeyes took advantage of a slow start by Indiana and raced out to a 20-6 lead behind a pair of threes from Cooper. OSU led 29-14 at the end of one and after a back and forth second quarter, the Buckeyes took a 48-29 lead into halftime.
The second half wasn’t as clean for the Buckeyes but they were never really threatened on the afternoon. IU scored nine points in the final 1:45 to make the final score look a bit closer than it actually was.
The Buckeyes remain on the road to start the New Year as they will play at Northwestern on Tuesday, Jan. 3. The game will tip off at 9 p.m. ET and will be televised on BTN.
