COLUMBUS, Ohio – Playing in one of the best fields of the season, Ohio State posted a pair of under par rounds and is in the Top 5 after day one of the Valspar Collegiate Invitational at the Floridian Golf Club.
The Buckeyes shot rounds of 281-282 and are 5-under par through 36 holes. They are the lone non-Top 10 team in the Top 5 through the first two rounds.
Junior Maxwell Moldovan added to his school-record for rounds in the 60s as he carded rounds of 67-69 and sits in a tie for fifth at 6-under par. He made seven birdies in his opening round 67, which is tied for the most in a single round in his career. The Uniontown, Ohio native will start the final round just four shots off the lead.
JonErik Alford opened his day with a round of 69, that featured six birdies. His second round of even-par 71 also featured four birdies and an eagle. He is tied for 20th at 2-under par.
Adam Wallin rebounded from a tough outing at Sea Island and posted rounds of 72-71 on Monday. He made six birdies on the day. Neal Shipley and Jackson Chandler are both tied at 5-over par through 36 holes.
The final round will start with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The Buckeyes are paired with Texas, Texas A&M and host Houston.
