Buckeyes in Fifth Place After Two Days at NCAAs

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 5 Buckeyes turned in two First Team All-American performances and one broken program record on the second day of the NCAA Championships. Ohio State has jumped up three spots and sits in fifth place with 93 points after two days of competition.

Meet Notes

  • The Buckeyes began the night with the 50 free, with Teresa Ivan competing in the championship final and Amy Fulmer in the consolation final. Both turned in top-five program times. Ivan earned First Team All-America honors, racing to a fourth-place finish with a time of 21.46. Fulmer was the winner of the consolation final, touching the wall at 21.74 to received Honorable Mention All-America honors.
  • Lena Hentschel earned Honorable Mention All-America honors in the 1-meter dive. She scored 279.40 and placed 16th.
  • The Buckeyes closed out the night with an exciting, record-setting performance in the 200 free relay. The team of Katherine Zenick, Fulmer, Nyah Funderburke and Ivan finished the relay in a program-record time if 1:25.80, smashing the previous program record of 1:26.74 set last year by Zenick, Fulmer, Ivan and Emily Crane. The Buckeyes earned a fourth-place finish, the second straight night with a top-four relay finish, and all four Buckeyes were named First Team All-Americans.

  • The NCAA Championships continue Feb. 17-18. Prelims will begin at 10:00 a.m. each morning, with finals to follow at 6:00 p.m. Tomorrow’s finals sessions will consist of the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, 3-meter dive and 400 medley relay. All sessions can be streamed live on ESPN+.
