Buckeyes in Action at Gamecock Shootout


COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team took part in the Gamecock Shootout hosted by South Carolina over the weekend in Columbia, S.C. The event was a round robin and featured singles and doubles matches.

The Buckeyes were 13-3 combined in singles over the three days. Lucia Marzal and Madeline Atway led the way with 3-0 records, while Sydni Ratliff was 2-0 and Danie Schoenly and Kolie Allen notched 2-1 marks and Isabelle Boulais was 1-1.

In doubles, Boulais and Ratliff were a team-best 2-0 as a tandem, winning both of their matches 6-0.

Day One
On the first day, the Buckeyes were 5-1 in singles. Highlighting the day was freshman Sydni Ratliff defeating South Carolina’s No. 50-ranked Megan Davies in straight sets.

Lucia Marzal, Kolie Allen and Dani Schoenly also posted straight-set victories and Madeline Atway prevailed in a match tiebreaker, rallying after dropping the first set.

The Buckeyes were 4-0 in singles, with Lucia Marzal, Kolie Allen, Madeline Atway and Dani Schoenly all posting wins.

In doubles, Ohio State notched four doubles victories. Isabelle Boulais and Sydni Ratliff were 2-0, with Madeline Atway and Dani Schoenly pairing up for a win, along with a victory from the duo of Lucia Marzal and Kolie Allen.

Sunday morning included singles matches outside, with the Buckeyes posting a 3-2 record. Lucia Marzal won in straight sets, Sydni Ratliff came from behind for a three-set win and Madeline Atway won in a match tiebreaker.
