Columbus, Ohio – The No. 4 Ohio State men’s gymnastics team will host its first meet of the 2017 season on Friday at St. John Arena. The Buckeyes will welcome No. 17 UIC for a dual meet that is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

Friday will be the 68th meeting all time between the two schools. In the 67 prior meetings, Ohio State has defeated the Flames 64 times. UIC hosted the Buckeyes last week at the Windy City Invitational to open the season. The Scarlet and Gray placed second in the six-team field with a team score of 403.450, and UIC finished sixth with a tally of 360.250.
At the season opener in Chicago, the Buckeyes excelled as a team on the pommel horse with the fourth-highest score (67.100) in the country. 2016 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, Alec Yoder, paced the Buckeyes with the seventh-best routine in the nation for a score of 14.300.

Six Up, Five Count
For the first four team meets of 2017, each event contested will feature a six athlete rotation with the top-five scores counting to the team score. Beginning in March with the Arnold Challenge and carrying through the end of the season, teams will only be allowed to have five athletes compete at each event with all scores counting towards the team score.
Meet and Greet
Following the conclusion of the meet on Friday evening, all of Ohio State’s men’s gymnasts will be available for a meet and greet with fans.
Admission to the meet is free and fans are welcomed to park in the lot on the north side of St. John Arena with no fee.
