COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s track and field team hosted the first day of competition at the 29th Jesse Owens Track Classic Friday afternoon and evening at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Ohio State placed two runners in the Top 5 of the 1500-meter run. Junior Josh Sabo was the runner-up in a personal-best time of 3:46.62, while graduate senior Andy Arnold was fourth in a personal-best time of 3:47.60. Drew Windle of Ashland crossed the finish line first overall in 3:44.92.

Sophomore Jordan Redd turned in a third-place and personal-best time of 9:10.28 in the 3000-meter steeplechase. Michigan State’s Chris Collier was the winner in 8:59.48.

Former Michigan runner Lex Williams turned in the top performance of the day. Competing unattached, Williams bettered his own meet record by more than 16 seconds with a winning time of 13:45.11.

Competition resumes tomorrow morning with the pole vault at 10:00 a.m. ET. Running events begin at 12:05 p.m.
