COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s tennis team hosted Campus Kids’ Day at the OSU Varsity Tennis Center Sunday during the No. 21-ranekd Buckeyes’ 4-1 victory over Oregon.
With a season-high attendance of 182 on hand for the match, the Scarlet and Gray hosted multiple activities for the children in attendance. The first 50 fans through the door received free Ohio State t-shirts and during the match young netters could get their racquets stenciled with the Block O as well as pick up free pizza and drinks.
Between doubles and singles matches, a QuickStart demonstration with area children ages 4-5 took place to show the fans new techniques in youth tennis training.
After the Buckeyes clinched the victory, fans lined up for autographed posters from the varsity players.
Terri Jones, president of the Greater Columbus Tennis Association, and Peggy Knasel, a representative from the Ohio Valley Tennis Association, attended the match and provided information to children and parents, including USTA (United States Tennis Association) membership forms.
The Buckeyes hit the road this week to take on Big Ten foe Penn State in State College, Pa. Friday at 3 p.m.
