Columbus, Ohio – The third-ranked Ohio State men’s gymnastics team will hit the road to Lincoln, Neb., for a primetime matchup against the No. 1 team in America, the Cornhuskers, on Saturday evening with a slated start time of 8 p.m. ET. Fans can watch the meet on our Facebook.
The Cornhuskers edged the Buckeyes at last week’s Rocky Mountain Open by a score of 407.700-404.450, but the Buckeyes will have the presence of nine-time All-American Sean Melton this go around. Melton will be making his 2018 debut for the Scarlet and Gray on Saturday evening.
Five different Buckeyes (Andrew Brower, Max Andryushchenko, Sean Junior Neighbarger, Trevor Cummings and Josh Seltzer) all made their Scarlet and Gray debuts at the season opening Rocky Mountain Open.
Ohio State ranks No. 1 in the nation on three events via team scoring. Ohio State’s team scores of 70.450 on the rings, 68.100 on the parallel bars, and 67.450 on the high bar all lead the NCAA. Individually, junior Alec Yoder’s season-best score of 14.700 on the still rings is the best thus far in 2018, and the Indianapolis native also has the second-best pommel horse score in the nation (15.050).
Sean Junior Neighbarger shined bright in his first-career meet as a Buckeye and scored the second highest floor routine of the NCAA season with a 14.650.
