The Buckeyes continue their tour of Ohio this week when its heads south on I-71 to take on in-state rival Cincinnati on Wednesday evening.
The game will be the continuation of the home and home series between the two teams that was renewed in 2012. The Buckeyes have won the last four meetings in the series and hold an all-time record of 20-4 against the Bearcats.
The last time the teams met in the Queen City, the game was broadcast nationally on ESPN and it was Cincinnati native Kelsey Mitchell’s senior season. The Buckeyes came away with a hard-fought 87-76 victory.
Ohio State is coming off a solid showing in its season-opener on Sunday, defeating Valparaiso 89-38. The game was played as part of the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame Classic hosted by Wittenberg University.
Cincinnati enters Wednesday night’s game with a record of 1-1 overall after defeating Utah in its opener and then falling 60-50 on Sunday to Saint Louis.
Ohio State sophomore forward Dorka Juhasz, was named Preseason All-Big Ten, registered game-highs of 16 points and seven rebounds in the win over Valpo.
The Buckeyes’ heralded freshmen class scored 50 of the 89 points in the season-opening win.
Buckeye head coach Kevin McGuff is entering his seventh season at Ohio State and his 18 overall as a head coach. He is just seven wins shy of 400 for his career.
