COLUMBUS, Ohio – Four members of the Ohio State men’s tennis team were honored by the ITA with Midwest Regional Awards. Head coach Ty Tucker was named the region’s Coach of the Year, Justin Kronauge was named the Assistant Coach of the Year, Hugo Di Feo was named the Senior Player of the Year and JJ Wolf was named the Rookie of the Year.

For Tucker, this is the sixth time he’s been named the Coach of the Year as he also took home the award in 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2013. Head coaches cannot win the award in back-to-back seasons. Kronauge earns the top assistant award for the third time (2012 and 2014). The Buckeyes have been ranked in the top-3 all season and won their 12th-straight Big Ten Regular Season crown. They also won the Big Ten Tournament title for the 12th time under Tucker and finished the Big Ten regular season undefeated for the second-straight season.

Di Feo, who is in his last season of NCAA eligibility, is the seventh Buckeye to be named Midwest Senior Player of the Year and the first since Peter Kobelt in 2014. Di Feo is 24-2 in dual singles matches this year and won 11 of his Big Ten singles matches. He has been ranked in the top-10 of the singles rankings all year and earned his first All-America honors. Di Feo is also second on the team with 24 doubles wins including a 20-1 record in dual matches.

Wolf has been great in his first four months on campus. He is 15-4 overall this season including 13-2 at the No. 2 spot. He becomes the sixth Buckeye Midwest Freshman of the Year and the third straight, following Mikael Torpegaard in 2015 and Martin Joyce in 2016. Wolf was also named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year as well as a first team honoree. He will compete for All-America honors later this month in the NCAA Singles Championship.
