The Buckeyes’ third meet of the young indoor track season will find them competing against the Indiana Hoosiers Saturday in Bloomington, Ind. Both the mens and womens teams are coming off respectable second place finishes Saturday at the New York Sports Museum Collegiate Invitational.

The Hoosier men won a four-team meet at the University of Michigan, to kick off in resounding fashion the era of first year head coach Marshall Gross, who was promoted to mens track and field head coach in July after serving as an IU assistant for 15 seasons. Indiana (150 points) prevailed over Michigan (144.5 points), Kansas (133.5 points) and Michigan State (87 points). The Hoosiers won the meet thanks in part to winning five events. Kurt Krick (Jr., Ossian, Ind.), the defending indoor Big Ten shot put champion, won the shot put (18.01m; 60-1 ), while Tom Chorny (Sr., Fruitport, Mich.), a 3,000-meter steeplechase All-American, won the 3,000-meter run (8:20.10). Also, Brad Griggs (So., Indanapolis, Ind.) won the 600-meter run (1:20.72), freshman Ryan Huber (Wauseon, Ohio) won the 200-meter dash (22.82), and Russell Brooks (Jr., LaSalle, Quebec) won the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.85, a UM Track Building record. The Indiana women begin the indoor track and field season with the Ohio State meet Saturday. The Hoosiers are led by head coach Randy Heisler, who will begin his first season at the helm of the Indiana womens track and field. For the previous nine seasons, Heisler has been an assistant in the program.

The Ohio State men’s and women’s track and field teams both finished second in the New York Sports Museum Collegiate Invitational in Manhattan, N.Y. Saturday. The Ohio State women’s 4×400 relay team of Dominique Calloway (Jr., Aurora,Colo.), Carrie Hoblet (Jr., Lewis Center, Ohio), Ayanna Reece (Sr., Bronx, N.Y.), and Cathy Rejouis (Sr., Calgary, Alberta) set a school record with a time of 3:42.41. Calloway also won the womens 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8:34, while Ian Connor (So., Lexington, Ohio) was victorious in the mens 3,000-meter run 8:23.66. FINAL TEAM SCORES – WOMEN
