Buckeyes Finish Regular Season Undefeated

COLUMBUS, Ohio Following a weekend of competition in Arizona and Massachusetts, the Ohio State synchronized (artistic) swimming team earned wins over four teams to close the regular season unbeaten. The Gray squad earned a first-place finish at the Wheaton College Invitational against the Lyons and Boston University while the Scarlet team defeated Arizona and Grand Canyon to take first at the Arizona Collegiate Open.

The Buckeyes earned top finishes in the A Figures, B Figures, solo, duet and trio for a total of 83 team points on Friday at the Wheaton College Invitational.

 In the technical competition, Olivia Schafer took first in the A Figures category with a score of 73.4231 closely followed in second by Camryn Carrasco (73.1379). The Buckeyes, led by Olivia Malloy (71.8503) took the top nine finishes in the B Figures.

 Following their wins in the technical routine, Malloy (76.0000) and Schafer (75.3000) earned first and second in the solo competition. The duo of Trinity Patton and Marian Catahan won the duet category with a score of 73.2333.

 Earning the fifth win of the day for Ohio State was Paula Luis, Haley Watson and Megan Wong in the trio final. They combined to score a 73.1333 to take the category.

 Scarlet at Arizona Collegiate Open

The Buckeyes combined for 90 points over two days at the Arizona Collegiate Open to close its impressive regular season.

 Nikki Dzurko led the way in the solo competition, securing her third win of the season with a score of 80.6333. Rose Homoelle (76.9333) finished second for the Buckeyes.

 Emily Armstrong and Ruby Remati teamed up for their first collegiate win in the duet with a score of 78.5000. Nikki Dzurko and Laila Huric followed in second (75.9667) for the Buckeyes.

 Ohio State earned a tie for first in the trio category as Armstrong, Remati and Neeley matched Hannah Heffernan, Paige Hopper and Rachel Jager with a score of 77.500.

 The Scarlet squad debuted its full team routine last weekend in Arizona. The squad comprised of Armstrong, Dzurko, Heffernan, Hopper, Huric, Jager, Neeley, and Remati captured a score of 79.6667 in its first scored routine of the year.

 Next Up

With the close of the regular season, the Buckeyes set their sights on the North Regional Championships scheduled for March 5.
