COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s swimming and diving team competed in their first home meet of the season today at the Peppe Aquatic Center. OSU fell short to Big Ten rival Penn State, 170-129.

The Buckeyes finished first in five individual events. One Buckeye was a double winner, Heidi Hazen (Jr., Mentor, Ohio) won both the 100 freestyle (:53.16) and butterfly (:57.76). JoJo Baran (So., San Ramon, Calif.) won the 100 breaststroke (1:05.97), Julie Hutzler (Sr., Hampton, VA) finished first in the 200 backstroke (2:05.88), and Keryn Krynauw (Fr. Pietermarizburg, S. Africa) easily won the 200 breaststroke (2:21.42).

Penn State’s Katie Anderson (So., Somerset N.J.) was a triple winner leading the Nittany Lions to their second Big Ten victory. Anderson won the 1000 freestyle (10:18.09) , 200 butterfly (2:03.69), and 500 freestyle (5:01.08). Diver Jamie Jaax won both the one (265.00) and three meter diving (297.83) events.

Ohio State will be on the road again next weekend as they travel to Illinois for a two day meet against both Notre Dame and Illinois.
