COLUMBUS, Ohio – Dorka Juhász notched a 12th double-double but Morehead State got hot in the fourth quarter and came away with a 71-61 victory on Wednesday night in the opening round of the WNIT at Value City Arena.
Juhász finished with 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. The freshman finishes the season with 12 double-doubles and led the team in both scoring and rebounding.
Fellow freshman Janai Crooms chipped-in with 13 points and six assists which was one-off her season-high. Adreana Miller was the third Buckeye in double-figures with 11 points on 2-of-4 shooting from beyond the arc.
Graduate Carmen Grande, who was the NCAA’s active assist leader this entire season, finishes her career with 841 assists to go along with 1,050 points. She is one of just 31 players in NCAA history with 1,000 points and 800 career assists.
After a slow start, the Buckeyes called timeout and responded with a 13-1 run to end the first quarter and led 17-11. The Eagles had another run at the onset of the second quarter but the Buckeyes took a 31-25 lead in to the break.
The OSU lead stretched to 11 points early in the third quarter but MSU chipped-away by shooting 50 percent from both the floor and from beyond the arc in the second half. That allowed them to erase the deficit and ultimately win the game.
