FULL RESULTS

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s swimming and diving team picked up five race wins on the afternoon but they weren’t enough to offset a fine performance by the No. 7-ranked Indiana Hoosiers, who swam to a 185-115 win Friday at the Councilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center. The Hoosiers are now 2-0 on the season while Ohio State, ranked No. 17, is now 1-1.

Jason Mathews picked up a pair of wins to lead the Buckeyes. Notes and highlights from the pool featured the following:

  • Hunter Armstrong swim to victory in the 100 backstroke in :47.06 with RJ Kondalski third and Colin McDermott fourth. The efforts shaved nine points of an early IU lead to make it 45-29 after four events.
  • Mathews followed Armstrong’s win in the 100 back with a victory in the 100 breaststroke. Hudson McDaniel (second) and Evan McFadden (fourth) also scored in the event and the IU lead was down to five points at 49-44.
  • Sem Andreis won the 50 freestyle in :19.84 but IU took the next four places to hold on to a 19-point lead, 75-56, nearly midway through the meet.
  • Mathews won his second race of the afternoon by following his 100 breaststroke win with a victory in the 200 breaststroke in 1:57.73.
  • And Paul Delakis won for the second consecutive meet by taking first in the 400 individual medley in 3:54.79.
