COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State swimming and diving program earned top 15 preseason rankings in the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division I preseason poll announced Thursday. The women are ranked 10th with 243 points and the men earn a No. 11 rating with 226 points headed into the 2021-22 campaign.
The rankings are voted on by CSCAA-member coaches and select media. Each committee includes nine representatives from the Power Five leagues, five at-large programs, and two media members.
Overall, six Big Ten men’s teams and five women’s teams are ranked in the preseason poll. The Buckeye women’s squad is ranked second highest among the conference’ women’s programs as Michigan leads the pack with a fourth-place preseason rating. On the men’s side, Ohio State is the third highest ranked Big Ten program, behind Indiana and Michigan at fifth and sixth, respectively.
The Buckeyes’ 2021-22 season begins Friday, Oct. 29 and 30 as the team hosts Virginia Tech, Penn State and Indiana in a two-day double dual. In all, the program returns 20 All-Americans and welcomes 25 newcomers to the rosters.
