COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s track and field completed its final preparations for the upcoming Big Ten championships Friday night at French Field House as hosts of the Buckeye Classic.

Highlights included a new French Field House record in a competitive 60m hurdle final, a 1-2 Buckeye finish in the 60m dash and a number of new personal-best times and marks.

“The meet was exactly what we needed headed into the conference weekend,” head coach Ed Beathea said. “Our guys were very focused on what they needed to accomplish. We’re looking forward to some great performances next weekend.”

Here’s a look at how the night unfolded:

Ohio State swept the Top 2 spots on the podium. First place went to junior Demoye Bogle in a time of 6.76, while second went to sophomore Timothy Faust in a personal-best time of 6.80.

60m Hurdles
The marquee event of the night featured a French Field House-record time of 7.69 seconds from unattached competitor Terrence Somerville. Freshman Donovan Robertson, competing unattached, earned runner-up honors in his first collegiate race, crossing the line in 7.84 seconds. Junior Justin Hines used a personal-best time of 8.08 to place fifth.

Former Buckeye Thomas Murdaugh captured first place in a time of 47.45. Junior Javon Walker was the runner-up in 48.61.

Senior Marcus Brooks finished third in a time of 1:21.73. Findlay’s Dillon Webster was the winner in 1:20.03, followed in second by Kevin Brown of Miami (1:21.72).

Second place went to sophomore Jackson Neff in a personal-best time of 4:16.88. Jarrod Genther of Ohio crossed the finish line in first place (4:15.00).

With personal-best times, freshmen Brian Hannaford (8:28.30) and Nick Pupino (8:30.37) placed third and fourth, respectively. Shawnee State’s Brad Liston took home the win in 8:27.62.

Pole Vault
Senior Heath Nickles turned in a season-best height of 5.17m (16-11.50) to claim the win. Second place went to Findlay’s Corey Shank (5.02m/16-5.50), while junior Tyler Borton finished third at 4.72m (15-5.75).

Long Jump
Competing unattached, Michael Hartfield won the long jump with a 7.77m (25-6.00) leap. Runner-up honors went to senior Korbin Smith at 7.50m (24-7.25). Senior Derek Blevins used a season-best mark of 7.12m (23-4.50) to place fourth overall.

Triple Jump
Hartfield also won the triple jump, clearing 15.34m (50-4.00). Blevins placed second with a mark of 14.63m (48-0.00).

High Jump
A mark of 2.01m (6-7.00) helped Brant Reardon to third place. Eugene Cannaday of Tiffin won the event at 2.09m (6-10.25).

Weight Throw
Freshman Joseph Velez finished second overall with a personal-best toss of 19.30m (63-4.00), while senior Billy Gehring placed third at 18.43m (60-5.75). Unattached competitor Justin Welch was the winner at 21.19m (69-6.25).

4x400m Relay
Ohio State ‘A’ won the race in a time of 3:11.77. The Buckeye ‘B’ team was second in 3:12.63.
