COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the 12th time in the last 13 years, the Ohio State women’s soccer team has received the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, the organization announced Thursday. To be eligible for the award, a team must have a team grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
The award caps off another tremendous year in the classroom for the Buckeyes. Meghan Kammerdeiner and Selina Vickery were named Big Ten Distinguished Scholars in July while Vickery earned her degree in neuroscience and was the Ohio State Department of Athletics Corwin A. Fergus Memorial Award winner in May. Fergus scholars are male or female student-athletes who have excelled in athletics, achieved academically, demonstrated positive qualities of character and citizenship and shown potential for success in a graduate or professional program. The honors are in addition to 21 team members earning OSU Scholar-Athlete honors in May and 15 Buckeyes earning Academic All-Big Ten honors in December.
