QUINCY, Ill. – The Ohio State men’s volleyball team picked up its third straight sweep with a 3-0 victory (25-20, 25-19, 25-18) over Quincy on Friday night. The Buckeyes move up to 9-8 (8-5 MIVA) on the season as the Hawks drop to 4-12 (1-12 MIVA).
Sotiris Siapanis had a match-high 10 kills, followed by Jacob Pasteur with nine and Martin Lallemand with eight. Siapanis and Lallemand hit .600 and .545, respectively, with only three errors in 26 total attempts between them. Michael Wright chipped in 33 assists and Samuel Clark tallied three blocks. Luke Meidel and Pasteur added five digs each.
SET 1: Ohio State doubled up with an 8-4 advantage to start the match. The Hawks called for time after a 4-1 Buckeye run put them down 13-8. Quincy tried to capitalize on OSU miscues but a Siapanis-Clark rejection secured a 25-20 win for the Buckeyes.
SET 2: Back-to-back kills by Lallemand put Ohio State ahead 13-9 and sent Quincy to its bench. The Buckeyes went on a 6-1 sprint, extending their lead to 19-11. The Hawks strung together three straight points but a service error halted their efforts, 25-19.
SET 3: The Buckeyes opened the frame on a 10-4 run, which featured three kills by Siapanis. Ohio State kept the momentum going as it cruised to a 25-18 victory.
Ohio State and Quincy conclude the regular season at 8 p.m. Saturday.
