Buckeyes Drop MIT in Enemy Territory

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Ohio State University pistol team traveled to MIT and garnered victories in both the Open and Women’s competitions. The Buckeye women broke MIT’s Air Pistol range all-time record by firing a 1,099 en route to a 2,742-2,718 women’s aggregate triumph (1,643 in Sport Pistol). The Open tally finished up in a 6,445-6,117 advantage for the Scarlet & Gray.

Seven different Buckeyes set personal bests in at least one event with a total of nine personal bests broken. Three team records were shattered, as well, in the impressive two-day (Nov. 9-10) competition.

In the record-breaking Air Pistol performance, Irina Andrianova and Emily Rust both carded scores of 370 while Kara Moody rounded it out with a 359.

In addition to her 370 Women’s Air and event-best 567 Women’s Sport scores, Andrianova also contributed to the Open team tally for Air and Standard. She led all competitors with a 559 Standard mark while trailing only teammates Anthony McCollum’s 565 in the Air Open with her 560. McCollum came in as the top performer in Free Pistol as well, posting a 518. His 546 Standard score ranked second behind Andrianova.

The Buckeyes placed ‘1-2-3’ in both Standard and Free as Zachary Dahmen claimed third in both (538 Standard; 511 Free). The junior from North Royalton, Ohio, also chipped in a 545 to the squad’s Air tally.

Ohio State heads to West Point next weekend (Nov. 17-18) for two days of shooting versus Army.
