Buckeyes Drop 1-0 Decision at Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Ohio State women’s soccer team fell to Michigan, 1-0, Friday night at U-M Soccer Stadium. With the loss, the Buckeyes fall to 6-5-1, 3-2-1, in the Big Ten, while the Wolverines improve to 7-6-0, 3-3-0 in conference play.

– Michigan’s best chance came in the 24th minute when Raleigh Loughman headed a cross off the right post but it was cleared off the line by Ohio State defender Haley Walker-Robinson to keep it a 0-0 game.
– In the 43rd minute, Walker-Robinson played a beautiful long ball to Kayla Fischer on the left side of the box but Fischer’s left-footed strike headed for the right post was saved by Michigan goalkeeper Hillary Beall as the match stayed scoreless at the half.

– Michigan then took the lead in the 54th minute when Reilly Martin played a cross in from the left wing past Ohio State goalkeeper Devon Kerr to an open Nicki Hernandez for the finish from six yards.
– Fischer again almost found the back in the 70th minute when Talani Barnett slotted a through ball to her but the shot from 10 yards was deflected wide by Beall as it remained a 1-0 contest.

– Ohio State held a 5-1 lead in corners and a 5-2 advantage in shots on frame.
