COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s cross country team totaled 24 points to capture first place at the Dayton Flyer 5k Challenge Saturday morning in Kettering, Ohio.
Led by freshman Jill Kanney, the Buckeyes placed five runners in the Top 10 to defeat second-place IUPUI by 29 points. Kanney, in her first collegiate race, crossed the finish line second overall in a time of 18:36.0.
Also scoring for Ohio State were sophomore Lexi Aughenbaugh (third, 18:51.1), junior Katie Borchers (fifth, 18:58.1), sophomore Minori Minagawa (sixth, 19:03.3) and sophomore Helen Willman (eighth, 19:08.6).
The Buckeyes return to action in two weeks at the Big Ten Preview in West Lafayette, Ind.
