COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State field hockey team will make its third and final trip of the spring season to Louisville, Ky. on Saturday, April 13. The Buckeyes will play Louisville and Indiana at 9:00 a.m. and 2:15 p.m., respectively.
KNOW THY OPPONENT
In the team’s first away contest of the season, the Buckeyes recorded their first win of the season in a 3-2 overtime victory at Louisville. Courtney Daniels and Sammy Stone both scored in the second half to tie the game, and Esther Clotet scored 1:29 into overtime to seal the Buckeye win.
The Buckeyes shutout the Hoosiers in the regular season matchup, 1-0. Senior Casey Cole scored the Buckeyes’ lone goal off a penalty corner.
BUCKEYES IN A NUTSHELL
- The Buckeyes will play three weekends of spring competition in preparation for the 2019 season. The team traveled to Michigan last weekend, Penn State the weekend before, and is ending its spring season this weekend in Louisville
- Of the team’s seven opponents, six were on the Buckeyes’ 2018 regular season schedule (Penn State, St. Joseph’s, Louisville, Michigan, Kent State, Michigan State and Indiana). The team earned a 4-2 record over those teams last season.
- Ohio State welcomes four players in the fall of 2019. They include Sarah Charley, Mackenzie Allessie, Leanne Bough, and Delaney Lawler.
- This week, 23 members of the Ohio State field hockey team were named Ohio State Scholar-Athletes. Among the 23, Courtney Daniels is a four-time recipient of the recognition and 12 are first-time recipients. To be named an Ohio State Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must carry a 3.0 or higher grade point average
