Day 3 | Collegiate Pistol National Championships
Fort Benning, Ga. – The Buckeyes ended their 2018-2019 season yesterday afternoon in concluding this year’s 2019 Collegiate Pistol National Championships. The Buckeyes competed as both a team and individually in Open Air and Women’s Air Pistol to conclude the match.
Eight Buckeyes competed for the Open Air Pistol National Championship; Anthony McCollum (562, 2nd Place), Samuel Gens (565, 3rd Place), Shrenik Jain (555, 6th Place), Emily Rust (549, 11th Place), Bernard Melus (549, 12th Place), Con Marrinan (548, 14th place), Zachary Dahmen (537, 26th Place), and Cade Haiby (531, 29th Place). Emily Rust also competed for the Women’s Air Pistol National Championship, finishing in 4th Place. Anthony McCollum, Samuel Gens, and Shrenik Jain competed in the Open Air Pistol Final, shooting 99.9, 96.7, and 96.4, respectively. McCollum had the highest score of all finalists. Rust competed in the Women’s Air Pistol Final, firing a 94.4.
The Open Air Pistol Team of Samuel Gens, Shrenik Jain, Con Marrinan, and Anthony McCollum took 1st Place with a score of 2,230. The Women’s Air Pistol Team of Irene Li, Emily Nothnagle, and Emily Rust took 6th Place with a score of 1,566.
In the Open 3-Gun Aggregate, Anthony McCollum took 4th, Shrenik Jain 5th, Samuel Gens 6th, Zachary Dahmen 10th, Bernard Melus 13th, and Cade Haiby 16th. The team took 2nd Place overall in the Open 3-Gun Aggregate. In the Women’s 2-Gun Aggregate, Emily Rust took 4th. The Women’s Team took 5th Place in the 2-Gun Aggregate.
Several Buckeyes also were named as All-Americans at the awards ceremony. For Free, Samuel Gens and Anthony McCollum were selected as first team while Bernard Melus was named to second team and Zachary Dahmen and Con Marrinan earned honorable mentions. For Standard, Anthony McCollum was named to first team, while Shrenik Jain was named to second team and Robbie Delagrange and Bernard Melus were named to third. For Air, both Open and Women’s, Samuel Gens, Shrenik Jain, Anthony McCollum, and Emily Rust were named to first team while Con Marrinan was named to second. Finally, for sport, Emily Rust was named to second team.
Anthony McCollum was selected to represent Team USA at the 2019 World University Games in Naples, Italy this July.
The Buckeyes conclude their season with an Open Team Air Pistol National Championship as well as Samuel Gens earning an individual Free Pistol National Championship. The Buckeyes finish 25-2 and will begin their 2019-2020 season in September.
