Buckeyes Compete in Junior Olympic State Qualifiers

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Several members of the Ohio State Pistol team competed in Junior Olympic State Qualifiers over the past few weeks. Typically each athlete competes in their home state. Amanda Ackerman and Grace Praisler both participated in Akron, while Katelyn Abeln shot in Dahonega, Ga., and Logan Quinn hit the range in Cambridge, Mass.

Ackerman won the title of Ohio State Junior Olympic Woman Champion in sport pistol with a score of 521. Praisler also scored herself a title for the state of Ohio as Junior Olympic Woman Champion in air pistol with her shot of 528. Abeln was able to take home two titles as Georgia State Junior Olympic Woman in both sport and air pistol by tallying scores of 568 and 563, respectively. The title kept coming when Quinn snagged Massachusetts State Junior Olympic Male Champion honors in air pistol (538). He also took home a silver medal in sport pistol (545).

The Buckeyes now wait to find out who qualified for the National Junior Olympic Championships which will be held in April at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo.
