Buckeyes Compete at Last Chance Meet

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Nine Ohio State men’s swimmers raced one last time for NCAA Championship qualifying times on Sunday at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. Seven Buckeyes recorded NCAA provisional qualifying times on the day.

Chachi Gustafson earned the Buckeyes best time in the 200 butterfly this season with his swim on Sunday, racing a time of 1:41.39 for the NCAA B cut and a personal best finish. Jean-Pierre Khouzam also competed in the event, racing a time of 1:45.64.

Nathan Holty started the day off for the Buckeyes with a season-best time of 4:29.90 in the 500 freestyle. He bested his previous season high swim by over eight seconds.

Ian Mikesell, Colin McDermot, Thomas Watkins and Shaw Satterfield all reached NCAA B cut times in their respective races.

In the 200 breaststroke, Mikesell finished in a time of 53.35. Colin McDermott went 47.36 in the 100 backstroke and Watkins finished in a season-best time of 1:43.32.

Racing the 100 freestyle, James Ward recorded a 43.27 for the NCAA provisional time. Satterfield raced a career-best 43.76 for the NCAA B cut.

Also racing in the meet for the Buckeyes was Michael Cooper, who finished in a time of 3:55.03 in the 400 IM.

The CSCAA National Invitational meet will be held from March 10-12. The 2022 NCAA Men’s National Championship will be contested March 23-26 at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Ga.
