COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State synchronized swimming team continued to post impressive results Feb. 10 at William & Mary in Willamsburg, Va. Behind a sweep in all routine events, the Buckeyes collected a season-high 105 points in the competition to defeat William & Mary (82).
Paige Ramsey, Lauren Nicholson and Chelsea Aton claimed first place in trio with an 88.167. Katie Spada, Khadija Zanotto and Katie LaBounty placed second with an 86.500. Performing as an honors trio, Natalie Gaylard, Julia Gaylard and Samantha Golomb earned third with an 81.333.
Ramsey and Maryanko were awarded a season-high 90.000 to win the duet competition. William & Mary’s Becca Schall and Kara Gadeken posted a 78.333 to claim second place.
Maryanko notched a new season-high in her solo routine with a 92.000. Kristine Irwin’s solo performance earned 86.333 points to take second place.
The Ohio State Scarlet Squad competed in their second event of the year. The team, consisting of Chelsea Aton, Kayley Colville, Colleen Courtmanche, Yuliya Maryanko, Lauren Nicholson, Paige Ramsey, Katie Spada and Khadija Zanotto, scored a 91.667 to take first place. The Ohio State Gray Squad followed in second with a score of 87.167. The Gray Squad was comprised of Isabella Conrad, Natalie Gaylard, Julia Gaylard, Caitlin Hoffman, Kristine Irwin, Cory Justice, Emily Muma and Heidi Liou.
The Buckeyes will continue to compete on the road Feb. 23-24 for a two-day event at Boston University. They will return to Columbus, Ohio, to host the North Regional Championships at 2 p.m. March 2 at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion.
