COLUMBUS, Ohio – The defending national champion Ohio State pistol team wrapped up its 2022-23 home schedule last weekend with a victory over Purdue in its national qualifier. The Buckeyes fired a 6751 and Katelyn Abeln was first overall with an aggregate score of 1704.
Ohio State had all six of the top aggregate placewinners. After Abeln, Jackson Leverett was second (1699), Maria Tsarik finished third (1696) and Abbie Leverett was fourth (1668). Panagiota Charalampous (fifth, 1651) and Amanda Ackerman (sixth, 1591) rounded out the individual performances.
Abeln was tied for first overall in the air pistol with Maria Tsarik, second in the sport pistol and tied with Abbie Leverett for first in the standard pistol. The Buckeyes’ best event was the sport pistol where they shot a 2292.
Ohio State will next look to defend its national title at the Intercollegiate Pistol Championships, which will take place March 22-25 in Ft. Benning, Ga.
