COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s soccer team fell to Wake Forest, 1-0, Saturday evening at Bert L. & Iris S. Wolstein Field at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Ohio State opens the regular season against Illinois State at 7 p.m. Friday at Bert L. & Iris S. Wolstein Field at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
Katie Dry scored the lone goal of the match in the 78th minute when she received a through ball from Sarah Teegarden just outside the box, dribbled in and finished near post from eight yards.
A couple more notes from Wednesday’s exhibition:
– 16 Buckeyes played in the exhibition.
– Jillian McVicker played all 90 minutes in goal for the Buckeyes for the second consecutive match. The redshirt junior made a pair of saves but also thwarted two more Wake Forest opportunities by coming out to gather a pair of dangerous crosses.
– The Buckeyes had their best opportunity of the night in the 47th minute when Nichelle Prince snuck in behind the defense and beat the Wake Forest goalkeeper but her shot sailed wide left.
