NEW LONDON, Conn. – Setting a new school record Free Pistol score of 2,107 (previous mark was 2,047) lifted the Ohio State University pistol team to an Open Competition victory at the United States Coast Academy. The co-ed shooting score of 6,487-6,435 completed an undefeated regular season in Open Competition.
Anthony McCollum (536), Samuel Gens (534), Zachary Dahmen (519) and Mike Soklaski (518) combined for the all-time best Free Pistol tally of 2,107. McCollum and Gens ranked ‘1-2’ among all shooters in the discipline.
McCollum was joined by Soklaski as three-time contributors to the team total, each producing ‘counted’ scores in Air, Free and Standard Pistol. Soklaski racked up a 3-gun aggregate of 1,630, the best of his career.
The Buckeye Women tasted defeat for the first time in 2017-18, dropping a 2,758-2,718 decision. Despite missing the services of Kara Moody, Ohio State out-shot USCGA by two points in Sport but came up short in the Women’s Air (1,122-1,080). Irina Andrianova fired a 559 Sport, best among all shooters.
