COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s soccer team has climbed into all of the national soccer rankings this week, jumping as high as ninth in the TopDrawerSoccer.com rankings Monday. In addition, the Buckeyes sit 13th in the Soccer America rankings and 19th in the NSCAA poll.
The 5-1-0 start is the best opening to a season for Ohio State since 2007. The Buckeyes have home wins over Kent State and Wright State and road wins at Miami, Florida Gulf Coast and No. 16 Virginia Tech.
Lindsay Agnew is tied for second in the Big Ten with four goals while Nikki Walts is tied for second in the conference with three assists. In addition, Jillian McVicker has made 25 saves for the Buckeyes, a total tied for second in the conference. As a team, the Buckeyes rank third in the Big Ten with 13 goals and 12 assists on the season.
Ohio State hosts Texas at 5 p.m. Friday before taking on No. 7 BYU at 7 p.m. Monday at Bert L. & Iris S. Wolstein Field at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
