COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State wrestling team will conclude the regular season at noon Saturday when it hosts No. 14 Northwestern at St. John Arena on Senior Day.
Sean Nemec, Colt Sponseller, Zach Stolarsky and Pat Zamaria, as well as their family, will be honored in a pre-match ceremony. For updated biographies on the 2010-11 class, click HERE.
In addition to coverage on bigtennetwork.com, the match vs. the Wildcats will air on tape delay on Big Ten Network at 10 a.m. Feb. 21.
Ohio State enters its final match of the 2010-11 regular season with a 2-10 overall record and 1-6 ledger in the Big Ten Conference. So far, the Buckeyes have wins over Edinboro (31-14) and Michigan State (19-16).
Colt Sponseller and redshirt-freshman Nick Heflin are tied for the team lead in wins with 18 each.
Buckeyes in the Rankings
Senior Colt Sponseller and redshirt-freshman Nick Heflin are ranked in the Top 20 in the Intermat polls in their respective weight classes. As of Feb. 15, Sponseller holds down the sixth spot at 165 pounds, while Heflin is 13th at 174 pounds.
We’re Going Streaking
Colt Sponseller is currently on a seven-match win streak dating back to Jan. 8 at the National Duals. Since dropping an 8-3 decision to No. 3 Justin Kerber of No. 1 Cornell at the National Duals, Sponseller has seen his overall and Big Ten record improve to 18-3 and 6-1, respectively.

A Look at Northwestern
Northwestern currently is in fourth place in the Big Ten with a 17-2 overall record and 5-2 mark in the Big Ten. The Wildcats’ two losses came at the hands of Michigan (22-12) and Iowa (31-9). In its regular-season home finale, the Wildcats’ defeated Wisconsin, 25-13.
Four wrestlers are ranked in the Top 20 of the Intermat polls, including No. 3 Brandon Precin at 125 pounds.
Buckeyes vs. Wildcats
Ohio State leads the all-time series vs. Northwestern, 39-28-1. The Buckeyes have won the last four matches and seven of the last eight. Last season, the Scarlet and Gray downed the Wildcats, 37-6, in St. John Arena.

Redshirt-junior Bo Touris earned his first-career Big Ten win at Illinois Feb. 4. Touris, who hails from Cincinnati, Ohio, posted an 11-6 decision over Logan Arlis in the 125-pound matchup. Touris owned 6-4 and 8-6 leads at the conclusion of the first and second periods and in the third recorded a takedown and amassed a riding time of 2:19 to secure the victory.
A First…Part 2
Jacob Vaughan, a sophomore from Johnstown, Ohio, received his first dual start for the Buckeyes vs. Minnesota Feb. 5 at 133 pounds. Previously competing in a variety of open tournaments, Vaughan tested Gopher David Thorn throughout the match, especially in the opening period. One minute and six seconds into the bout, Vaughan scored a takedown and 2-point nearfall for a four-point lead and began the second period with a 5-4 advantage. However, Vaughan lost, 19-11.
Postseason action gets underway when Ohio State travels to the 2011 Big Ten Championships in Evanston, Ill., March 5-6 at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Northwestern will serve as hosts. Fans can purchase tickets by calling the Northwestern ticket office at 888-GO-PURPLE.
