COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State University men’s golf team bounced back in the second round of the Puerto Rico Classic, shooting an even par 288 to move up a spot into 14th place at 15-over par. Senior Felix Kvarnstrom followed up a first round 72 with a second round 69 to move to three-under for the tournament and place 16th going into the final round. Sophomore Grant Engle redeemed himself, shooting a one-under 71 after carding 79 in the first round.

Kvarnstrom started the day on the 16th hole, paring his first three holes before breaking through on his fourth hole with a birdie. His lone blemish came with a bogey on the third hole and after that played the rest of the round three-under par, with back-to-back birdies on seven and eight, along with a closing birdie on the 15th hole. Kvarnstrom finished his day with four birdies and 13 pars which moved him into a share of 16th place.

Engle bookended his day with bogeys but otherwise played a flawless round of golf on the Rio Mar Country Club, River Course. On the front nine, he parred the first four holes then rolled in three birdies over the next six holes, walking to hole 10 at two-under. Seven pars on the back nine allowed Engle to shave one stroke off of his total score and settle at six-over for the tournament in 55th place.

Freshmen Jackson Chandler and Patrick Schmucking each carded two-over 74s in the second round. Schmucking had an up and down day, playing the back nine one-under but having trouble on the front to get to seven-over for the tournament and take a share of 61st place. Chandler rolled in 14 pars and a birdie with just a couple bumps in his round to finish at six-over par with one round to play.

Junior Kevin Stone shot 78 to take a share of 70th place at 12-over par.

In the individual tournament, Laken Hinton finished the day at 14-over, Justin Wick at 16-over and Jack Mancinotti at 19-over, playing on the Rio Mar Country Club, Ocean Course.

The Buckeyes will tee off for the final round of the Puerto Rico Classic at 6:30 a.m. ET tomorrow morning.
