COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State Buckeyes bounced back after suffering a tough defeat Saturday to go 3-0 at the Wendy’s Classic in Ashland, Ohio. The Buckeyes defeated Kent, 28-6, Ashland, 30-6, and Cleveland State, 23-10.

%^$Heroes on the afternoon were Robert Sessley (So., Columbus, Ohio), Jeff Bucher (Sr., Toledo, Ohio), Peter Rogers (Jr., Sheboygan, Wis.) and Bo James (So., Akron, Ohio). All went 3-0 on the day to help the Buckeyes to three wins.

%^$After suffering only his fourth loss in his last 15 matches yesterday against Pittsburgh, Sessley had a great afternoon. Sessley’s only close match came against Kent. Wrestling at 141 for the first time this year, the sophomore defeated Steve Daugherty, 4-2. Sessley was not headed in his other two matches of the day, in which he wrestled at his customary 133 pounds.

%^$Bucher also rebounded after suffering a loss yesterday. His record improves to 14-5 (7-3 dual) with his three victories today.

%^$The re-emergence of James at 174 is a welcome sight to the OSU coaching staff. Since returning from his wrist injury, James has a 5-1 record, including wins in his last four decisions. The Akron native moved up to 184 for the first time this year and had no problems disposing of Nick Magistrelli of Kent, 6-3, and Zack Truax of Ashland, 18-0. James is now 15-2 on the year, including 6-1 in dual matches.

%^$Rogers’ three victories extended his win streak to nine wins in his last ten matches. Rogers is currently second on the team with 20 wins.

%^$The Buckeyes’ next action comes Friday, when they take on the four-time defending national champion Iowa Hawkeyes, who are currently ranked third in the nation. The match starts at 7 pm in St. John Arena.%^$
