COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State Buckeyes got this crucial weekend going on the right foot with a 3-0 win over conference foe Ferris State before 7,204 at Value City Arena.

%^$With the win, OSU (13-10-3, 11-6-2 CCHA) takes over sole possession of third place in the conference. They had been tied with Ferris State (11-9-3, 10-7-2 CCHA) coming into tonights game. The top four teams at the end of the regular season hold home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.

%^$After a scoreless and uneventful first period, Ohio State got things going early in the second period when Yan Des Gagne (Fr., St. Therese, Quebec) scored his first goal as a Buckeye. Skating behind the net, Des Gagne attempted to pass the puck in front of the net to teammate Jason Selleke (Jr., Sterling Heights, Mich.), but the puck hit Bulldogs goalie Vince Owen in the back of the pads and caromed in for the goal.

%^$The score stayed 1-0 until 9:28 into the third period when Ohio States star center and Hobie Baker candidate, Hugo Boisvert (Jr., St. Eustache, Quebec), scored a power play goal on a fabulous pass from center Chris Richards (Sr., Cornwall, Ontario) to make the score 2-0. Richards took the puck from behind Ohio States net and carried it all the way up the ice, dishing it to Boisvert who was skating in from the left wing.

%^$OSU rounded out the scoring when Jean-Francois Dufour (Sr., Bedford, Quebec) scored an empty net goal with 29 seconds remaining.

%^$Ohio States next game comes Saturday when they take on the Michigan Wolverines, currently ranked fifth in the nation and tied for first in the CCHA. These two teams last met up on January 2, a game won by the Buckeyes, 1-0. The game is sold out.
