COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s gymnastics team will open the 2020 season at No. 6 in the Big Ten preseason poll. The watch list features seven Big Ten teams, featuring Michigan and the No. 1 spot. The rest of the poll is as follows:
The Big Ten preseason poll also features the gymnasts to watch list, which includes two Buckeyes. Justin Ah Chow (Fr.) and Jesse Tyndall (So.) earned their respective spots to be highlighted by the Big Ten to begin the season.
Ah Chow, a native of Alpharetta, Ga., competed this summer for the Buckeyes at the USA Championships in Kansas City, Mo. where he posted a weekend-high score of 13.800 on the vault. Prior to Ohio State, Ah Chow was named a three-time men’s USA National Team member and 2016-17 (level 9) and 2018-19 (level 10) National Champion. Ah Chow will compete in six events this season as an all-around team member for the Buckeyes.
Tyndall, a sophomore from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, secured a qualifying spot on floor in his first season as a Buckeye (2019) to compete in the NCAA individual championships. Tyndall’s personal bests include a 14.600 on both floor and parallel bars and a 14.000 on high bar (scores from 2017-20 FIG Code of Points). Tyndall will also compete as an all-around team member for the Buckeyes in the 2019-20 season.
The Buckeyes look to open their season on Jan. 18 against Oklahoma and Arizona State in the inaugural season at the Covelli Center.
