Columbus, Ohio Members of the Ohio State women’s volleyball team participated in the End-of-Season Pizza Party for the Logan Youth Volleyball League last Monday. Buckeye junior setter Betsy Hone, junior outside hitter Allie Schwarzwalder and freshman setter Amanda Peterson participated in the activities.They helped with the pizza party and signed autographs during the event.

“It was a nice experience to help take part in their volleyball league,” Schwarzwalder said.

The Buckeyes watched three teams (comprised of children up to fifth grade) play volleyball and handed out season medals to the children.

“We were excited to see competitive volleyball being played at such a young age,” said Hone. “They seemed to enjoy playing which helps as they learn the sport.”

The Ohio State student-athletes also promoted the Lil Spikers program and the Ohio State summer camps.

“We had a lot of fun hanging out with the girls,” Peterson said. “I hope they come out and watch up play this season.”

The Ohio State women’s volleyball team will open the 2010 season at 7 p.m., Aug. 27 when they host Virginia Commonwealth in the Sports Imports Classic.
