2013-14 Schedule

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Women’s basketball coach Kevin McGuff today announced the non-conference portion of Ohio State’s 2013-14 schedule, which features 10 postseason qualifiers from last season and seven NCAA tournament teams, including defending national champion UConn. Four of Ohio State’s NCAA opponents from last year will be played away from Value City Arena.

“I’m excited about our non-conference schedule because it will challenge us early and often,” McGuff said. “As we aspire to build our program, we want to compete against the best teams in the country.”

The season begins Friday, Nov. 8 on the road at West Virginia, who lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament to Delaware. Ohio State’s home opener will take place the following Sunday (Nov. 10) vs. Florida Atlantic followed by VCU (Nov. 14). The Buckeyes then hit the road to face Georgia in Athens Sunday, Nov. 17. The Lady Bulldogs were a win away from reaching the Final Four last season, falling to California in overtime in the Elite Eight.

After returning from Georgia, Ohio State will host three teams in three days in the Basketball Hall of Fame Challenge, spanning Friday-Sunday vs. Old Dominion (Nov. 22), Marist (Nov. 23) and Bowling Green (Nov. 24). A regular non-conference game against Lehigh will take place Nov. 27 before the BHOF feature game vs. UConn Dec. 1 in Springfield, Mass., which is set for 5 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

Two more road contests await the Buckeyes in December, starting Dec. 5 at Maryland – a Sweet 16 finalist last season – in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. Ohio State will then face Gonzaga (Dec. 8) and Army (Dec. 13) at home before hitting the road one last time down I-71 to face Cincinnati Sunday, Dec. 15, at Fifth Third Arena. The Buckeyes wrap up the non-conference portion of the schedule with three consecutive home games vs. Tennessee Martin (Dec. 17), Appalachian State (Dec. 20) and North Carolina Central (Dec. 29).

Times and television will be confirmed at a later date.
