COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State University men’s gymnastics team announced which three men will lead the team as captains for the upcoming year on Wednesday.

First up is Alec Yoder, reprising his role as a captain from last year’s squad. The senior finished last year by earning All-American status with a third-place finish in the all-around at the NCAA Championships before a strong showing at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships secured his spot on the 2018 U.S. Men’s Senior National Team. Yoder earned multiple honors last season, including the Collegiate Gymnastics Association Specialist of the Year award for his work on the pommel, and the CGA MVP award.

Next up is Joey Bonanno. The senior earned All-American status in 2017 for his performance in the floor exercise, and qualified for the 2018 floor NCAA Championship as well. In addition to excelling in competition, Bonanno has set an example for his teammates in the classroom. He’s earned CGA First Team All-American Scholar-Athlete status and OSU Scholar-Athlete honors all three years of his college career, and Academic All-Big Ten honors both years he’s been eligible. He also earned Big Ten Distinguished Scholar status in 2018.

Last, but certainly not least, is Michael Chan. The redshirt-sophomore impressed in his first season of action, notching two season highs, a 14.000 on the floor and 13.850 on the high bar, against Penn State. The Louisville, Ky. native made the Academic All-Big Ten team in 2018, and earned OSU Scholar-Athlete honors for his freshman and redshirt-freshman season. He also participated in the Huntington Bucks Go Pro program over the summer.
