Buckeyes Announce 2019 Schedule

Six home contests and five games versus programs that played in last year’s NCAA Tournament highlight the 2019 Ohio State men’s lacrosse schedule, head coach Nick Myers announced today.

CLEVELAND STATE AT OHIO STATE

Did You Know: The Vikings are in their third year as a Division I program and the two squads have met in each of those seasons. Last year, Ohio State opened its 2018 regular season schedule with a 13-6 win in Cleveland.


 

BOSTON AT OHIO STATE

Saturday, Feb. 9 • Columbus, Ohio • Woody Hayes Athletic Center

 

Did You Know: The Buckeyes and Terriers also played last year – the first-ever meeting between the two teams – and Ohio State came away with a 15-9 victory in its home opener.


 

OHIO STATE AT UMASS

Saturday, Feb. 16 • Amhurst, Mass. • Garber Field

 

Did You Know: This will be the third time in the last four years that Ohio State and UMass, the champions of the CAA last season, will be playing each other. The Buckeyes won the last meeting in Ohio Stadium, 8-7, during the 2017 season.


 

BUCKNELL AT OHIO STATE

Did You Know: Ohio State and Bucknell have met just six times previously and not since 2010. The Bison were 11-4 last year and 7-1 in the Patriot League.


 

MARQUETTE VS OHIO STATE

Did You Know: The Buckeyes and Golden Eagles are no strangers to each other, having played every season since 2013. Ohio State owns a 4-2 advantage in the six previous contests.


 

OHIO STATE AT HOFSTRA

Saturday, March 9 • Hempstead, N.Y. • James M. Shuart Stadium

 

Did You Know: The Ohio State-Hofstra series has been played each of the last three years, with the Buckeyes most recently coming away with a 9-7 victory inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center last February.


 

DENVER AT OHIO STATE

Saturday, March 16 • Columbus, Ohio • Ohio Stadium

 

Did You Know: The last time Ohio State and Denver met at Ohio Stadium, the Buckeyes knocked off the No. 1-ranked Pioneers, 16-7, in 2017. Both teams made the Final Four that season and will be playing for the 28th time in series history this spring.

Did You Know: Ohio State and Notre Dame have met at least once a year in every season since 1981.


 

RUTGERS AT OHIO STATE

Did You Know: Since they became conference opponents in 2015, the home team has won each game in the Ohio State-Rutgers series.


 

OHIO STATE AT PENN STATE

Did You Know: Ohio State and Penn State – along with Michigan – battle annually for the Creator’s Trophy, which was established in 2012 by the three Big Ten schools at the time that sponsored men’s lacrosse.


 

OHIO STATE AT JOHNS HOPKINS

Did You Know: The Buckeyes and Blue Jays have played four times over the last two seasons: once in the regular season and again in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals. The teams have split those four meetings.


 

MARYLAND AT OHIO STATE

Saturday, April 20 • Columbus, Ohio • Ohio Stadium

 

Did You Know: Ohio State has won regular season meetings against Maryland in each of the last two years, including a 12-10 win over the top-ranked Terrapins last season in College Park.


 

OHIO STATE AT MICHIGAN

Saturday, April 27 • Ann Arbor, Mich. • U-M Lacrosse Stadium

 

Did You Know: Ohio State owns a 7-0 record against its rivals and last year’s 8-5 win over the 20th-ranked Wolverines was the beginning on three straight wins to close the regular season against ranked opponents.

Did You Know: The Buckeyes have qualified for the Big Ten Tournament in three of four years, advancing to the championship game twice: in 2015 and 2017.
