COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State men’s swimming and diving team added two more NCAA “B” qualifying times to the books Sunday as the team completed its Winter Invitational at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. The Buckeyes accumulated a total of seven NCAA “B” qualifying times over Valentine’s Day weekend.

Zach Holmes and Brent Hitchcock each recorded “B” qualifying times in the 200 freestyle in 1:38.01 and the 1650 freestyle in 15:22.70, respectively. Holmes was a double qualifier for the meet, also marking a time in the 100 freestyle Saturday (44.37).

“The objective of this meet was to do two things,” head coach Bill Wadley said. “It was to either give kids another chance for NCAA cuts, or to try to swim for their best personal times.”

It seems the team did both. Junior Jayson King timed in at a personal best 1:39.69 in the 200 freestyle.

“Jayson is a great swimmer, and we were excited for him today,” Wadley said. “Hat’s off to Steven Springer, Alex Chen, Ryan King, Ben Bailey and Joe Albers as well. They did a really great job.”

The Buckeyes will resume action February 24-27 at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion when they host the Big Ten championships.
