COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State men’s golf’s 2021-22 schedule will feature some of the top golf courses in the country, including three of the best in the Columbus area.
The season begins on Sept. 5-7 at Erin Hill Golf Club, site of the 2017 U.S. Open. Next is one of the best golf courses in the Dallas, Texas area, Maridoe Golf Club for the Maridoe Invitational on Sept. 13-15. The event will feature an elite field and Golf Channel will provide coverage of the event.
Following a trip to Illinois for the Windon Memorial in late September, the Buckeyes will return home to host the Barbara Nicklaus Cup at famed Muirfield Village. The Barbara Nicklaus Cup is a unique men’s and women’s combined event which will feature players from Ohio State, Auburn, Arizona State and Florida State competing together in a match play format.
The spring portion of the season opens at the Albany Collegiate Invitational, which is played at the Albany Resort, home of the Hero World Challenge, in the Bahamas. The Colleton River Collegiate kicks-off a three tournament stretch in the month of March that also includes the Southern Invitational and the Valspar Intercollegiate, both played in Florida. Last spring at the Valspar, the Buckeyes played their best event of the season against one of the top fields. OSU finished third at 14-under par behind a runner-up finish from freshman Maxwell Moldovan.
The month of April starts in Nashville, Tenn., for the Mason Rudolph Collegiate at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. The month ends with the Buckeyes hosting the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate on April 23-24. This year, the tournament is being played at Columbus Country Club as the OSU Golf Club will be prepping to host the NCAA Columbus Regional in May. In between those events will be the Big Ten Championship at the French Lick Resort on April 29-May 1.
Hosting the regional will be a big plus for the Buckeyes who missed out on qualifying for the NCAA Championship last season by just two shots at the Tallahassee Regional. Grayhawk Golf Club will once again host the NCAA Championship during the final week of May.
