COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s swimming and diving team kicks off the conference championship season at the 2020 Big Ten Women’s Swimming & Diving Championships held at the University of Iowa’s campus recreation and wellness center from Wednesday, Feb. 19 through Saturday, Feb. 22. The No. 7 Buckeye women are sending a championship roster of 24 swimmers and four divers to compete throughout the week. The swimmers include:

The four divers representing Ohio State are Genevieve Angerame (Jr.), Lexie Barker (Jr.), Jackie Brenn (Fr.) and Mackenzie Crawford (Fr.).

Ohio State swimmers holds Top 3 times in six Big Ten championship events. Kathrin Demler claims four of those times as she leads the conference in the 500 Freestyle (4:37.22), the 200 Butterfly (1:55.01) and the 400 IM (4:03.96). She also has a second-best time of 1:56.45 in the 200 IM. Hanna Gresser has the third best time in the 50 Breaststroke (28.39) while Molly Kowal places third in the 1,650 Freestyle (16:03.23).
In the relay events, Ohio State holds Top 3 times in the 400 Free Relay and the 200 Medley Relay, while placing Top 5 in four of the five championship relay events.
In diving, Genevieve Angerame leads the Buckeyes on the One-Meter springboard while Lexie Barker and Jackie Brenn hold the sixth and eighth best scores, respectively. On the Three-Meter, Brenn leads Ohio State divers with the sixth spot but is followed by Angerame at seventh.
OHIO STATE AT THE BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIPS
Ohio State has won five team Big Ten Championships; all five converence titles were captured in a five-year period from 1982-86 under coach Jim Montrella. The Buckeyes have also won 93 Big Ten swimming, diving and relay titles.
Last season the Buckeye women finished third among the 13 teams at the Big Ten Championships in Bloomington, Indiana. Ohio State finished with 1,162.5 total points and trailed No. 2 Michigan (1,302.5) and first place finishers Indiana (1,386.5).
Kathrin Demler was named All-Big Ten First Team as she was the 200-yard Butterfly Big Ten Champion. Four returning Buckeyes were named All-Big Ten Second Team including Rebekah Bradley, Molly Kowal, Freya Rayner and Taylor Petrak. Bradley finished fifth in the 100-yard Backstroke, Kowal was the runner-up in the 1,650-yard Freestyle, Rayner placed third in the 50-yard Freestyle and Petrak finished fifth in the 50-yard Freestyle. Notably, Kristen Romano finished third in the 400-yard Individual Medley and Lara Tarvitt and Lexie Barker finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in platform diving. The 200-yard Freestyle Relay team placed second, behind Michigan while the 200-yard Medley Relay team finished third.
