COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State mens swimming team will have nine members competing at either Nationals or Junior National competitions this summer. Ian Petrovic (So., Zagreb, Croatia) and former Buckeye Mark Strahija also will represent Croatia in the European Championships in Istanbul, Turkey on July 27-Aug. 31.

On July 27-31, John Moore (So., Chesterfield, Va.) and Ian Neubauer (So., Cincinnati, Ohio) will take part in the U.S. Junior National Championships. Moore will enter the 400-meter individual medley and the 400-meter freestyle, while Neubauer will swim in the 200-meter individual medley, and 100- and 200-meter breaststrokes.

Travis Carver (Sr., Overland, Kan.), Drew Fiden (So., Kettering, Ohio), Jason Fox (Sr., Goshen, Ind.), D.J. Kelley (Jr., Columbus, Ohio), Brian Malich (Jr., Mason, Ohio), Erich Sloaf (So., Joliet, Ill.) and Dan Vitina (Fr., Goshen, Ind.) will all compete at the U.S. National Championships on Aug. 6-10 in Minneapolis, Minn.

Carver will swim in the 100, 200 and 400 freestyle, Fiden and Kelley in the 100 breaststroke, Sloaf in the 100 butterfly, Vitina in the 100 and 200 backstroke, Malich in the 50 and 100 freestyle, and Fox in the 100 butterfly, 200 individual medley and, 100 and 200 breaststrokes.

Earlier this month, Strahija placed first in the 100 backstroke (2:01.4) in the Croatia Nationals to advance to the European Championships. Both Strahija and Petrovic will compete Thursday in the backstroke competition.
