COLUMBUS, Ohio – Kaleb Wesson, a junior forward on the No. 18 Ohio State men’s basketball team, recorded his seventh career double-double in the Buckeyes’ 76-56 victory over UMass Lowell Sunday afternoon at Value City Arena. After going for five double-doubles as a sophomore last season and one as a freshman in 2017-18, the double-double was the first of the season for Wesson as the Buckeyes improved to a perfect 7-0 all-time when he accomplishes the feat.
Wesson went for 13 points, 13 rebounds and five assists as Ohio State moved to 2-0 on the year after a season-opening victory over Cincinnati. The 13 rebounds and five assists tied his career high while his 11 defensive boards mark a career best. Named to the preseason Top 50 watch list for the Wooden Award last week, Wesson is averaging 10.5 points, 12.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists through the first two games of the 2019-20 campaign.
Wesson joins his brother, Andre, and fellow junior Kyle Young as Buckeyes to record a double-double in their career. Andre notched his double-double with 15 points and 10 boards in a win over Penn State last season while Young went for 14 points and 13 rebounds in the Buckeyes season-opening victory over the Bearcats. Ohio State is a combined 9-0 when a current Buckeyes has notched a double-double.
The Buckeyes continue their homestand when they host No. 10 Villanova at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Value City Arena. Tickets are available for purchase online here.
