Buckeye Relays Race on Day 1 of NCAA Championships

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s swimming and diving program kicked off the first day of the 2022 NCAA Championship meet with honorable mention All-American finishes in the 200 medley relay and 800 free relay. The Buckeyes are in 14th place with 18 points after two races.

The relay of Hunter Armstrong, Hudson McDaniel, Alex Quach and Sem Andreis raced a time of 1:22.98 to take 12th in the 200 medley relay in the first event of the 2022 national championship meet. Andreis raced the third-fastest freestyle split of the night (18.46) while McDaniel tied for the eighth fastest breaststroke split (23.07).

Ruslan Gaziev, Armstrong, Quach and Shaw Satterfield teamed up to earn Ohio State a finish of 6:14.54 to take 13th in the 800 free relay. The Buckeyes won their heat and dropped nearly four seconds, 3.99 to be exact, off their seed time. The finish was the second fastest time by the relay in program history.

Tomorrow’s events include the 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free, 1-meter dive and 200 free relay. Prelims will start at 10 a.m. and finals will begin at 6 p.m. ET.
