Buckeye Nation. These two words bring to mind countless shared moments experienced while cheering on those who have donned the Scarlet and Gray. They are two words that speak to the largest living alumni base in the country and of the people who have supported Buckeye student-athletes for generations. It is because of Buckeye Nation that we are the standard of excellence in college athletics.
We are the standard of excellence because of the environment that we have been able to create for our student-athletes. This environment, our circle of care, exists because of you.
We strive to provide opportunities for as many Buckeyes as possible to achieve their academic, athletic and life pursuits. Generations of Ohio State student-athletes have benefited from the circle of care that your investments enable us to provide. With over 1,000 student-athletes across 36 sports, Ohio State Athletics is one of the most visible, respected, and accomplished programs in the country.
We are an athletics department unlike any other. Ohio State’s Department of Athletics is completely self-supporting receiving no university monies, tax dollars, or student fees.
Remaining at the forefront of scholarship, innovation, and intercollegiate competition, however, requires an incredible commitment from a generous group of supporters.
Through this initiative, Ohio State will continue to provide a first-class experience and environment for our student-athletes and prepare them for meaningful lives after they graduate. Our vision will enable the athletics department to maintain a level a distinction.
Buckeye Nation – you are unlike any other. Supporting our Buckeyes is a way of life for Ohio State alumni and citizens of the Buckeye State, as well as loyal fans across the country and around the world. We know that our Ohio State traditions will look different this year; and while we may not be able to see our Buckeyes in person, we can support them from afar and elevate our standard of excellence.
The young men and women that we serve inspire and excite us through their individual and collective accomplishments, all while representing our department and our university. To support our student-athletes we are now focusing our efforts on bolstering the Athletics Excellence Fund. The purpose is to provide support that directly affects their circle of care.
We, as Buckeye Nation, have a collective responsibility to our current, former, and future student-athletes for the memories they have given us, and the moments yet to come. This responsibility includes providing unparalleled experiences and opportunities to those who don the Scarlet and Gray whether they are able to compete or not. It is our Higher Purpose.
