COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State rowing team concluded the 2010 season Sunday at the NCAA championships on Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif. The Buckeyes finished 14th in the team standings.

The Second Varsity Eight crossed the finish line in a time of 6:46.01, which was good for fifth place in the Petite Final and 11th overall. Racing in sixth place in the first 1000 meters, the 2V8 moved into fifth at the 1500 mark, overcoming Yale thanks to a split time of 1:43.81.  

Garnering a 13th-place finish overall after winning the third-level final in 7:25.17, the First Varsity Four quickly took command of the race despite trailing UCLA by a mere .33 hundredths of a second in the opening 500 meters. At the 1000-meter mark, the 1V4 moved into first place and never faltered. Recording the best split times at both the 1000 and 1500-meter points, the First Varsity Four outdistanced second-place UCLA by 1.61 seconds.

With a third-place finish in the third-level final (6:38.57), the First Varsity Eight was 15th overall. Clemson won the race in a time of 6:32.78, while Washington State was second (6:36.77). The Buckeyes beat out Tennessee, who clocked in at 6:43.21.
