COLUMBUS, Ohio Chase Buchanan and Blaz Rola, members of the Ohio State men’s tennis team continued their successful doubles run Friday at the 2011 D’Novo/ITA All-American Championships at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Okla. The Buckeye duo advanced to the semifinals of the doubles main draw with an 8-5 victory over Wichita State’s David Cavalcanti and Matheus Pereira.

Buchanan and Rola will meet Sadio Doumbia and Ignacio Taboada of Georgia at noon CT Saturday. Georgia Tech and Auburn represent the other half of the bracket.

Devin McCarthy and Ille Van Engelen competed in the consolation doubles quarterfinals Friday and handed Memphis’ David O’Hare and Joe Salisbury a hard fought 9-8 (8) defeat. The Buckeye pair will hit the courts against Louis Cant and Malte Stropp of Mississippi State Saturday with the hope of moving on to the consolation final.

Buchanan was the lone Buckeye remaining in singles main draw competition entering the third round Friday The two-time defending Big Ten Athlete of the Year lost to Mitchell Frank of Virginia 6-0, 6-3.

McCarthy and Nelson Vick also entered Friday with a chance to advance in the singles consolation bracket. However, McCarthy fell 6-3, 6-4 to Michigan’s Evan King, while Vick lost a tough match to Stropp 3-6, 6-2, 6-1.
