COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State men’s track and field team competed at the Arkansas State Red Wolves Open Friday and Saturday in Jonesboro, Ark.
Two Buckeyes were victorious on the weekend. Freshman LaMar Bruton took the title in the 400-meter dash in a season-best time of 46.88, while junior Josh Sabo won the 1500-meter Invitational in 3:50.18.
Other highlights for Ohio State:
Senior Justin Hines used a season-best time of 14.41 seconds to finish third overall. Robert Semien of Ole Miss won the event in 14.19 seconds.
A time of 52.50 helped senior Jordan Rispress to a third-place finish. Unattached competitor Oleg Mironov took the win in 50.97 seconds.
Sophomore J.C. Murasky cleared 17.98 meters (59-0.00) to place third overall, while freshman Aaron Zedella turned in a collegiate-best mark of 16.46 meters (54-0.00) to take sixth. Josh Freeman of Southern Illinois was first with a throw of 18.93 meters (62-1.25).
Murasky was fifth with a personal-best mark of 52.48 meters (172-2.00), ranking him fifth all-time in OSU history. Josh Syrotchen of Harding was first at 54.44 meters (178-7.00).
Sophomore Joseph Velez was third at 59.98 meters (196-9.00). Nathan Loe of Ole Miss was victorious with a throw of 63.90 meters (209-8.00).
Senior Cody Marshall used a season-best height of 4.97 meters (16-3.50) to take third. Austin Crenshaw of Memphis was first at 5.07 meters (16-7.50).
Ohio State – Batcha, Faust, Robertson and Blackwell – raced to a second-place time of 40.17. Arkansas Baptist was the winner in 40.15 seconds.
Ohio State returns to action next weekend, May 2-3, at the Dave Rankin Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind.
